Conquer Fear And Beat Failure With A Daily Routine
You owe it to yourself to put all fears that are holding you back from making your life, or the life of those around you, better. Game Of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin once said, “Fear cuts deeper than swords” and it’s the truth.
For health and fitness conscious people, this “sword” can slice through your goals of getting into shape.
Most of our clients “swords” are getting started with a trainer or following a custom program designed for them.
It’s common to believe failing is worse than not trying.
But, I'm here to tell you when it comes to your health and physical fitness; this is NOT true.
Less than 50% of adults could pass a physical fitness test. Combine this with the fact that less than 5% of adults engage in 30 minutes of physical activity on a daily basis and you have a recipe for disaster.
Your Health Is A Big Price To Pay
I remember when one of my first clients paid the price of being too afraid to fail. Fortunately, she overcame it by being smart about her health and fitness instead of doing something outrageous that not only set her up for failure and was not sustainable.
The best part is, you can do this too. One important fact to remember is what’s right for me, and some of our other satisfied clients may not be the perfect fit for you.
At Compel Fitness; we're here to help you figure it out by using our professional experience to find what will work for you.
If you’ve bought into the fear of never starting or giving up for good, it’s near impossible for us to help.
Finally, A Daily Routine Worth Sticking To
One of the best ways to slowly but surely chip away at fear is a daily routine.
By doing small tasks every single day that move you closer to your goal your body and mind adapt to what you’re doing and make decisions that used to be tough, seem simple.
Today I'm going to show you how important your daily routine is and how closely related it is to how successful you are.
John C. Maxwell once said "You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is in your daily routine."
Habits are what fills your daily routines.
They become part of your life, and you’re able to execute them without hesitation. That's why bad habits are so hard to break for most people because they become ingrained in your brain.
When your willpower is at an all-time high, and you feel like we can take on the world, it's easy to follow the plan.
When we hit a rough patch, willpower feels nonexistent, and you just want to run away, it's a lot harder to talk yourself into these new habits.
According to Nir Eyal, we go through 4 stages of the habit loop: trigger, action, reward, investment.
One of the biggest mistakes I see our clients make is rewarding their new healthy habits with unhealthy ones.
Make The Health Habit Your Reward And Have Fun
I'm not telling you to be the fun police, but the ‘I earned this mentality' can put you into serious trouble.
Treating yourself to a whole pizza just because you worked out three times this week is NOT healthy or sustainable.
This is a fast track to self-sabotage, cravings, and frustration because you're building a habit by using this whole pie of pizza as a reward.
Here's what you can do instead which will decrease your cravings and create easy to follow healthy habits that are perfect for you.
Think of exercise as the reward. I know it sounds crazy but exercising causes our body to release endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin -- which are a few hormones responsible for happiness.
When you think about exercise as your reward and as something that you GET to do (not HAVE to do), it changes how you feel about it.
To add to this mindset shift, I also want you to have fun with your workouts.
Go on a hike with your kids, play golf, go skiing, play paintball, ride your bike, play basketball, go kayaking, play volleyball, boot camp, martial arts, kickboxing, Zumba, surf lessons, tennis lessons, yoga, hire a personal trainer or coach, find someone with similar interests, connect with people you’ve met in classes, befriend other people doing their own thing in the gym, and so much more.
Maybe a few of those caught your attention, or perhaps you have a better idea. Either way, the possibilities are endless.
Remember This One Thing...
Your health and fitness should NOT be bound by you being stuck in the gym.
This simple mindset and fitness shift can completely change your view on health and fitness.
